Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini says he doesn't feel the pressure over his job ahead of their crunch Uefa Champions League second leg tie against Barcelona. (3:21)

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has said the players are fully behind under-pressure manager Manuel Pellegrini.

Pellegrini's position at the Etihad Stadium is expected to be reviewed in the summer after the 3-1 aggregate Champions League loss to Barcelona made it likely that City will end the season without silverware.

The Chilean won the Capital One Cup and the Premier League in his first season in England, but City are currently six points behind leaders Chelsea and went out of the Champions League at the last-16 stage for the second successive year.

Hart, who was outstanding in Wednesday's 1-0 defeat at the Camp Nou, told reporters after the match: "We back our manager.

"He is a great manager and brought us two trophies last year -- now we have nine [league] games to win, and that's what we hope to do.

"It's always going to be the same at City for all the players. We appreciate that, if we don't win, everyone will be speculated about. You have to be strong inside."

Hart found it hard to take consolation from his display against Barcelona, even though Lionel Messi described it as "phenomenal".

"It's difficult to say tonight, because we are out of the Champions League before the quarter-finals -- we'll talk about it another day," he said.

"I am a proud man and take pride in my performances, and the day I come off the field and am not proud of what I have done is the day I will question myself.

"Even when we lose, even when I make mistakes and it's all my fault, I am still proud of my efforts, and of my team -- and we will keep going."

City's top scorer Sergio Aguero, who had a penalty saved by Barcelona goalkeeper Marc ter Stegen as City missed the opportunity to set up a tense finale, was also backed by Hart.

"Sergio scores goal after goal after goal for us, and I can't say one bad word about him -- he is a phenomenal player," the England international added.

"But I thought ter Stegen had a brilliant game for Barcelona and topped that off with a save from the penalty. It's disappointing. We gave ourselves a chance and didn't take it."
