Manuel Pellegrini hits back at Inter, says Yaya Toure still happy at Man City

MANCHESTER -- Manuel Pellegrini rejected Roberto Mancini's suggestions Yaya Toure wants to leave Manchester City and insisted his vice-captain is happy to remain at the Etihad Stadium.

Former City manager Mancini, who signed Toure for the Premier League champions in 2010, has been vocal in his eagerness to take the Ivorian to Inter Milan.

But while the midfielder was involved in a dispute with City last summer, Pellegrini is convinced Toure is content now.

"There is so much news about Yaya from the beginning of the year until now," said Pellegrini in a news conference.

"Maybe everyone would like to have Yaya in their squad but he is a contract here, he is happy here, he will continue here."

The 31-year-old is paid 250,000 a week and Inter are unlikely to be able to afford a similar salary, while Pellegrini also appeared irritated that Mancini was talking in public about City players.

Out-of-favour striker Stevan Jovetic has also been linked with Inter and Pellegrini added: "I don't know how he has so much information about the players. Stevan Jovetic, the same as me, has a contract here. We are not talking about what will happen next season with the players."

City go to Burnley on Saturday and have been linked with the Clarets' nine-goal top scorer Danny Ings.

"He is a very good player, he is young and important player," Pellegrini said. "He has a very successful season."

City made a striking signing in January but the 25 million-pound forward Wilfried Bony is yet to open his account for the club after four appearances, albeit with only one start, when he missed several chances against Leicester.

"Bony is an important player for our team," Pellegrini said. "We brought him here not just for this season, we signed a contract for four or five years. I am absolutely sure he will score, he had three or four clear options in the last game. He is working very hard and is a very good professional."

City have a fully-fit squad for the trip to Turf Moor with Pellegrini debating whether to restore captain Vincent Kompany to the team after dropping him for the 2-0 win over Leicester.

"Vincent is in the squad list," he said. "We will see the starting 11."
