Frank Lampard glad Yaya Toure and Wilfried Bony in Man City squad

Frank Lampard believes Manchester City will be given a major boost by the return of Yaya Toure and the availability of January signing Wilfried Bony.

Midfielder Toure has missed City's last six games as he captained an Ivory Coast team including striker Bony to African Nations Cup glory.

The 31-year-old linked up with City again last week while former Swansea forward Bony began training on Monday, and both will be in contention to face Newcastle on Saturday.

"Yaya's a massive player for the club," Lampard told reporters. "I could see that from afar when I was at Chelsea. You want him back in and hopefully that will give us a boost as a squad."

Frank Lampard will join New York City FC in July.

City only won one of six games without Toure, who scored seven times in his last 11 matches before he departed on international duty.

And Lampard added: "Of course you miss a player like that with his talent and his ability. We've lost quite a few games when he has not been around.

"And alongside his return we've got Bony. We've seen what he has been doing at Swansea so he'll be a fantastic signing for the club. There's an air of confidence about him and he'll add to the squad."

Bony, who was the Premier League's 20-goal joint top scorer in 2014, joined City for an initial 25 million pounds on Jan. 14. but is yet to debut for his new club.
