Wilfried Bony backed by Yaya Toure to shine at Manchester City

Yaya Toure has hailed Wilfried Bony as a "great player" who Manchester City need to help them retain the title.

The Swansea City striker is set to join the Premier League champions after the two clubs agreed a fee of 25 million pounds, rising to 28 million pounds.

Bony was the Premier League's top scorer in 2014, when he struck 20 times, and Toure, who is used to playing alongside the forward for Ivory Coast, believes he will be a worthy partner for Sergio Aguero in the City forward line.

City are two points behind league leaders Chelsea and Toure thinks former Vitesse Arnhem forward Bony could help make the difference in the title race.

"Manchester City is a club that still needs major players like Aguero and Bony," he told reporters.

"If you have the ambition to be at the top of the Premier League, you need to recruit great players and Bony is one of today's great players."

Toure and Bony are preparing for the African Nations Cup at a training camp in Abu Dhabi as they wait to finalise a deal to take the latter to the Etihad Stadium.

And Toure, who has won two league titles during his five years in England, added: "If you want to be at the top of the Premier League you need to sign the top players and Bony is one of them at the moment.

"It will be tough to win the title again as Chelsea are in a good moment. It is not finished and we need to compete well and do the business and again."
