Edin Dzeko has told kicker he is close to agreeing a new contract at Manchester City and believes he is now approaching the peak of his career. - Mooney: Five questions for Manchester City Dzeko joined City from Wolfsburg in January 2011 and, while there had been frequent rumours over his future since that time, the arrival of Manuel Pellegrini last year saw the striker enjoy his best campaign to date, with 26 goals in all competitions. "I have been here for nearly four years now, and feel better and better," Dzeko told the German football magazine. "I will give my all to show what I can do. The second half of last season was the best I had in my entire time here, and I want to draw on that. "I want to get better every year, to score even more goals. I am 28 -- my best time is now." Dzeko is now in the final year of his contract at City but he could soon follow in the footsteps of David Silva and Vincent Kompany, who have both recently prolonged their deals. "We are currently talking about new contract," the new Bosnia captain said. "It looks very good in terms of staying here a bit longer." With Sergio Aguero, Stevan Jovetic and the currently injured Alvaro Negredo on the books, Dzeko faces stiff competition for his place, but the striker knows they will need every single one of them if the English champions are to enjoy another successful season. "We've got four great attackers for only two positions," Dzeko said. "I hope that Alvaro gets fit soon. We need every player to be successful." He knows it will be difficult to defend the Premier League title, with many of City's rivals having bolstered their squads this summer. "Arsenal have made good reinforcements, Liverpool will be up there again, Chelsea also," he said. "And you have to count on Manchester United. They brought in a great coach in Louis van Gaal. The team will definitely be better than last season, and they have the huge advantage of not playing in Europe. They can fully focus on Premier League. "We also got a few good players, but winning the title again will not be a formality." Asked about his career goals, he said that he had not given up on one big dream: "You get addicted to titles -- you always want more. "I want to play the European Championship with Bosnia, and it would be glorious to maybe win the Champions League with Manchester City in the next few years."
