City's David Silva carrying ankle injury

Manchester City midfielder David Silva is currently playing through the pain barrier as he struggles with an ankle injury that means he cannot train all week.

Mooney: Stand and deliver

City manager Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that Silva, 28, is carrying a knock, but is confident the Spain international will be fit enough to face Liverpool in Sunday’s vital Premier League showdown.

However, the injury has left the Chilean sweating on whether or not the influential Silva will be available for the last seven games of City’s season.

“He is playing very, very well. It is with double merit because he is playing with his ankle he hurt during the week,” Pellegrini is quoted as saying by Sport 360.

"It’s just a kick. He has to stop [training] two or three days during the week. I hope he will be fit for the rest of the season.

“Because he played the last two games without a problem, now we have a whole week before we play against Liverpool, so I don’t think he will have any problems.”

Silva has scored two goals in five league games since being moved into the No. 10 position by Pellegrini.

City, meanwhile, are waiting to discover if top scorer Sergio Aguero, who has missed the last five games with a hamstring injury, will be fit to return for the Anfield clash.
