Zabaleta plays down talk of quadruple

Pablo Zabaleta believes Manchester City should not get too excited about the prospect of winning an unprecedented quadruple.

Mooney: City's Cup runneth over

Manuel Pellegrini’s team play the second leg of their Capital One Cup semifinal against West Ham on Tuesday, boasting a 6-0 advantage after the first game in Manchester.

They are also second in the Premier League and remain in the Champions League, where they face Barcelona in the last 16, and the FA Cup, where they will host Watford on Saturday.

No English club has ever won four major competitions in the same season but Zabaleta is simply concentrating on the immediate future.

"We need to calm down," he told the Manchester Evening News.

"We know how tough it is to win four competitions. We are still alive in all of them which is fantastic for the team at this point in the season.

"We will try to win all of them but we don't need to get confused and think too much about it. We just need to go game by game and see what happens."

Zabaleta, City’s first-choice right-back, could be one of several regulars who are rested for the game at Upton Park, with Pellegrini expected to field a weakened team.
