Hart to return against Bayern

Joe Hart will return to the Manchester City goal for Tuesday’s Champions League game against Bayern Munich as manager Manuel Pellegrini plans to rest several players.

Joe Hart has fallen out of favour under Manuel Pellegrini.
Joe Hart has been out of favour at City.

Both teams have already qualified for the last 16 of the competition and while City have the chance to top the group, they would need to beat the defending champions by three goals in the Allianz Arena.

So Pellegrini has decided Saturday’s Premier League game against leaders Arsenal is the priority and has said he will rotate his squad. Since losing his place at the end of October, Hart has only made one appearance for City, when Pellegrini praised him for his performance in the 4-2 win over Viktoria Plzen.

However, he made mistakes when Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben scored in Bayern’s 3-1 win against City at the Etihad Stadium in October.

Pellegrini said: "Joe Hart will play against Bayern Munich, sure. Of course, if you ask me at this moment, the game against Arsenal next weekend is more important than the game against Bayern Munich.

"From the moment we qualified for the next round, the Premier League became more important than Champions League but that does not mean there is a possibility that the players who play against Bayern Munich will not play against Arsenal."
