Sources: Earthquakes inquire about LAFC assistant Marc Dos Santos

LAFC assistant coach Marc Dos Santos joins an increasingly lengthy list of candidates for the San Jose Earthquakes.

Multiple sources have confirmed to ESPN FC that the Quakes have asked LAFC for permission to speak to Dos Santos. TVA Sports first reported that Dos Santos is on the team's list of candidates.

The Quakes fired Mikael Stahre earlier this week following a dreadful season that sees San Jose with the worst points total (20) in the entire league. Former assistant Steve Ralston is currently serving as manager on an interim basis, and was in charge for Wednesday's 4-3 defeat to Atlanta United.

Dos Santos, 41, has spent the bulk of his managerial career in the second tier of American soccer, having managed the Montreal Impact, the Ottawa Fury, and the now defunct San Francisco Deltas. He won the USL First Division championship with the Impact in 2009, as well as the 2017 NASL title with the Deltas. He also spent time as an assistant under Peter Vermes at Sporting Kansas City.

Dos Santos joins an increasing lengthy list of candidates, one that includes former Portland Timbers manager Caleb Porter, current Stanford University men's head coach Jeremy Gunn, current Boca Juniors manager Guillermo Barros Schelotto, and former Borussia Dortmund manager Peter Bosz.

ESPN FC can confirm that the Quakes have spoken with Porter, Gunn, and Bosz, and have inquired as to Schelotto's wage demands.
