MLS hands Clint Dempsey additional one-match ban for elbow on Jacori Hayes
Major League Soccer has given Clint Dempsey an additional one-game suspension for throwing an elbow at Jacori Hayes in the Seattle Sounders' 3-0 loss to FC Dallas on March 18.
Dempsey was shown a red card and sent off after the referee consulted with the video assistant and has already served a one-game ban on March 31 when the Sounders played the Montreal Impact.
MLS also fined the Seattle striker an undisclosed amount for visual dissent for clapping at the referee following the sending off.
Dempsey will sit out his team's April 15 match against Sporting Kansas City and will be eligible to return for the Sounders' home match against Minnesota United on April 22.
