The United States Soccer Federation has interviewed Earnie Stewart and Ali Curtis for its new general manager position, sources confirmed to ESPN FC's Jeff Carlisle.
MLSsoccer.com reported earlier on Thursday that both Stewart, the Philadelphia Union sporting director, and Curtis, who formerly held the same position with the New York Red Bulls, had spoken with U.S. Soccer.
New federation president Carlos Cordeiro is creating the role of general manager, which will lead the search for the men's national team coach. Dave Sarachan has acted as interim manager since Bruce Arena stepped down last year in the wake of the failure to qualify for the World Cup.
A former U.S. international, Stewart, 49, has been with Philadelphia since 2015 after working for NAC Breda and AZ Alkmaar in Netherlands. He earned over 100 caps in his playing days and was a key part of the U.S. team at three World Cups.
Curtis, 39, is a former MLS player and league executive who spent two seasons as Red Bulls sporting director before leaving his post in 2017.
