Jordan Morris sidelined 'multiple weeks' for Sounders, U.S. - source

Max Bretos and Herculez Gomez use their weekly podcast to discuss Alexi Lalas' polarizing rant about the USMNT's struggles.

Seattle Sounders forward Jordan Morris' strained hamstring has been described as a "multiple-week injury," hitting his chances of playing in next month's World Cup qualifiers, a source has told ESPN FC.

U.S. international Morris suffered the injury in the second half of Sunday's 1-1 draw with LA Galaxy and was substituted in the 61st minute.

The injury came five days after he had helped set up Bobby Wood's equalizer in the 1-1 draw with Honduras.

Morris underwent an MRI on Monday and, while the results have not been made public, the injury makes it unlikely that he will feature at home to Panama on Oct. 6 and against Trinidad & Tobago four days later.

He is also expected to miss much of what remains of the MLS regular season, in which Seattle has six games left and currently lies in second place in the Western Conference standings.

"He's being assessed," Sounders coach Brian Schmetzer told reporters on Monday. "He'll have an MRI and we'll have more information once we know the true extent of the injury. The doctors will take a look at him and we'll see from there.

"He's sore. He's inside [Seattle's practice facility] there getting treatment, he'll get very good treatment here and at home. He's a tough kid; he'll be fine and bounce back.

"The question is just how bad it is and what the timeline is. But we'll do everything humanly possible to get him back as soon as we can."
