Major League Soccer suspended Marco Urena one game on Friday after the San Jose Earthquakes forward made contact with Portland Timbers goalkeeper Jake Gleeson last weekend.
Gleeson fell to the ground to smother a ball during the Timbers' game last Saturday. Urena tried to jump over him, but his legs struck the goalkeeper.
MLS's disciplinary committee ruled the action to be violent conduct and suspended Urena for next weekend's game against Sporting Kansas City. He was also fined an undisclosed amount.
Also fined by the disciplinary committee on Friday were San Jose defender Florian Jungwirth, Orlando City midfielder Antonio Nocerino -- both for putting their hands to the face or neck of an opponent -- Montreal forward Dominic Oduro for embellishment, and Orlando's Rafael Ramos for failing to leave the field in an orderly manner.
The Earthquakes were also warned after confronting the referee during the game against the Timbers.
