Je-Vaughn Watson joins Revolution in trade with FC Dallas

The New England Revolution acquired Jamaica international Je-Vaughn Watson in a trade with FC Dallas on Friday.

Watson, 32, played in Dallas for three years, scoring six times in 78 appearances as a defender and midfielder. He previously helped the Houston Dynamo win the 2011 MLS Cup.

"Je-Vaughn is a versatile player who brings significant experience in both MLS and the international stage to the roster," Revolution general manager Michael Burns said in a statement. "We're confident he will play a valuable role for the team this season."

FC Dallas will receive the Revs' third-round pick in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft in exchange for Watson, who had originally decided to part ways with his old club before a sign and trade on Friday.

According to the Washington Post, Watson had requested a trade so he could be closer to his daughter in Philadelphia.
