Lampard scores in New York City FC's win over Toronto FC, Revs in first

Frank Lampard scored his first MLS goal as New York City FC beat Toronto FC 2-0 on Wednesday night to end a three-game losing streak.

New York City won its first game since Aug. 13. Toronto FC has lost three straight, as both teams attempt to stay in the MLS playoff picture.

Lampard, a former Chelsea and Manchester City midfielder, scored in the 20th minute. He settled RJ Allen's back-pass with his chest and rolled in a goal through traffic. Lampard spent 13 seasons with Chelsea, winning three Premier League titles and scoring 176 goals in 599 games.

Patrick Mullins headed in Andrea Pirlo's corner kick in the 77th.

Josh Saunders had a diving save of Sebastian Giovinco's deflected free kick in the 62nd minute and he punched Michael Bradley's shot from distance over the crossbar in the 70th.

Kelyn Rowe broke a tie in the 65th minute and the New England Revolution beat the New York Red Bulls 2-1 to move into first place in the Eastern Conference.

New England won its sixth straight game, matching a club record set in 2005. New York lost for only the second time in its last 10 matches.

Diego Fagundez scored in his fourth straight game for New England in the second minute. Juan Agudelo one-touched a free kick into open space and Fagundez ran past the defense to send it home. In the second half, Scott Caldwell lofted a loose ball in front of the net and the uncovered Rowe volleyed it home.

Mike Grella levelled the score in the sixth minute for New York. Kemar Lawrence's cross was deflected off the crossbar by Jose Goncalves and Grella ran on to the loose ball for a well-placed finish.

In San Jose, Kyle Bekker scored his first MLS goal in the 65th minute as 10-man Montreal held San Jose to a 1-1 draw.

Bekker caught goalkeeper David Bingham leaning the wrong way and squeezed a shot inside the near post. It was Bekker's first game with the Impact after being traded from FC Dallas on July 16.

Ambroise Oyongo received a red card in the 49th minute for Montreal after a studs-up challenge against Matias Perez Garcia.

Chris Wondolowski opened the scoring in the 35th with his 14th goal of the season for San Jose.
