United States international striker Herculez Gomez returned to Major League Soccer with Toronto FC on Friday.
Gomez, 33 has played in Mexico since 2010, featuring for a number of teams including Puebla, Pachuca, Santos Laguna, Tijuana, and Tigres.
Gomez won an MLS cup with the LA Galaxy in 2005 and went on to play for Colorado and Kansas City before moving south of the border.
"Adding a player with Herculez Gomez's experience and ability was very important at the deadline," said Toronto FC general manager Tim Bezbatchenko.

"He is a proven winner having won both the MLS Cup and U.S. Open Cup with LA Galaxy. He has also won domestic titles and played in the finals of the CONCACAF Champions League while playing in Mexico.
"He is an accomplished goal scorer and we will benefit from having someone of his pedigree join Toronto FC."
In acquiring Gomez from Tijuana, Toronto FC paid allocation money to Sporting KC, who held the right of first refusal on the player.
He has made 24 caps for the United States, including three appearances at the 2010 World Cup, but he has not featured for the national team since the 2013 Gold Cup.
In another move, Toronto traded defender/midfielder Warren Creavalle to the Philadelphia Union for a second-round pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft.
Also, Toronto midfielder Benoit Cheyrou was suspended for one game by MLS and fined him an undisclosed amount for a serious foul that endangered the safety of an opponent Wednesday night in a 4-1 victory over Orlando City.
Cheyrou will sit out Toronto's home game Saturday against Sporting Kansas City.
