De Rosario's 22 international goals are the most for Canada. He made his final appearances for the national team in January, scoring twice against Iceland.
He also had an illustrious career in Major League Soccer, winning the MLS Cup four times and being named league MVP in 2011.
In addition to two stints with Toronto, De Rosario played five years with the San Jose Earthquakes, three with the Houston Dynamo, one with the New York Red Bulls and three with D.C. United.
He scored the game-winning goal in two MLS Cup finals, as a rookie in 2001 with San Jose and in 2007 with Houston.
