Steven Gerrard's arrival will help MLS 'a lot,' says Orlando City's Kaka

Kaka is excited that MLS is gaining a player of Steven Gerrard's quality, saying that the Liverpool legend will "help the league a lot."

Gerrard will start an 18-month contract with the LA Galaxy in July, while Kaka joined MLS expansion franchise Orlando City at the start of the season.

The pair previously faced off in two Champions League finals while Kaka played for AC Milan in 2005 and 2007, and the Brazilian told Sky Sports that he looks back fondly at his games against Gerrard's Liverpool.

"I have good memories of Gerrard," Kaka told the broadcaster. "He was one of the players I loved to watch. I like the way that he plays and the way that he moves on the field. I'm so happy he's coming to play here. It's going to help the league a lot."

However, Kaka warned Gerrard that he must not assume that his big contract will mean he will be guaranteed a spot in the Galaxy squad.

"I'm not sure I'm in a position to give him some advice for the league, but it's very competitive, so he will need to be ready to be competitive with his new team," Kaka said.

"It's a great experience to play in America in this league with this team and this project. I'm so happy here. Being the superstar of the league is not a pressure, it's a big motivation."

Kaka also said he enjoys watching the Premier League to follow his fellow Brazilians Oscar, Willian, Filipe Luis and Philippe Coutinho, and he reserved high praise for a former teammate, Arsenal's German midfielder Mesut Ozil.

"He's an amazing player," Kaka said of Ozil. "He's so smart, so intelligent. The time we played together was amazing. We had a very good relationship on and off the field."
