Toronto FC, Manchester City to play May 27 friendly

Toronto FC have announced they will host a friendly match against defending Premier League champ Manchester City.

The match, scheduled for May 27, will take place at Toronto's BMO Field.

"We are very excited to play Manchester City at BMO Field this season. Hosting a club like Manchester City is a great opportunity for our players to compete against one of the biggest clubs in the world," said general manager Tim Bezbatchenko.

For his part, City chief executive Ferran Soriano says the match is an opportunity for the club to play in front of their Canadian supporters.

"We are very excited about the game against Toronto FC," he told the club's website.

"We know from our visit to Vancouver in 2011 the passion for the club which exists in Canada.

"We have a very active supporters group in Toronto, and are looking forward to bringing our team to showcase their talents to our fans there."
