As Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar gears up to leave Toronto this week for his national team ahead the match against Sporting Kansas City on Friday, all signs point to his permanent departure from Major League Soccer and return to Queens Park Rangers, according to MLS.com.
Julio Cesar's loan is through December, but Toronto coach Ryan Nelsen told MLS.com that there is a "gentlemen's agreement" in place if QPR want him back sooner. Julio Cesar gave no sure answer when asked if a return to Toronto was an option.
"I don't know," he told MLS.com via translator. "It depends on the World Cup. Queens Park Rangers wants me in August. I don't know what will happen.
"I'm contracted still in England for a few more years," he said. "I'm contracted to return there in August after the World Cup. I can't really give you a clear answer as to what my fate is after the World Cup. I've always been a professional person. Even if I win the World Cup, I'm going to keep to my word, return to my [parent] club and help them win championships."
QPR, relegated to the second-tier Championship, reduced its salary obligations, including the transfer of Julio Cesar, whose weekly wages were estimated at between 70,000 and 100,000 pounds.
Should Julio Cesar have a good showing in Brazil, QPR may try to sell him, although it is not clear whether an MLS club could take on the cost of his contract.
