D.C. United have acquired midfielder Alex Caskey from the Seattle Sounders for a third-round pick in the 2016 MLS draft.
The 25-year-old Caskey made 30 appearances with 17 starts over the last two seasons for the Sounders, scoring one goal with four assists.
He was originally selected in the third round of the 2011 draft. United open their season Saturday against the Columbus Crew.
"Alex has had two solid seasons in Seattle, and he will provide us with great cover across the midfield,” D.C. United general manager Dave Kasper said in a statement. “We look forward to having him on board.”
