Report: Rapids' Oscar Pareja resigns

Colorado Rapids manager Oscar Pareja resigned Friday, according to a Goal.com report.

Pareja spent two years at the Rapids' helm and led Colorado to the playoffs last season.

In November, the Rapids denied FC Dallas permission to speak with Pareja, The Denver Post reported, and another attempt to acquire fell through in December.

Colorado failed to counter with a new contract for Pareja, leading to his resignation, according to Goal.com.

With a year left on his contract, the Colombian-born Pareja will not be able to coach in MLS until his deal expires or the Rapids release him.

The Rapids are targeting Red Bulls assistant Robin Fraser and former Timbers coach John Spencer -- both former Rapids players -- to replace Pareja, Goal.com reported.
