Sources: Dallas, Oscar Pareja in talks

FC Dallas has embarked on another attempt to make Colorado Rapids manager Oscar Pareja its next head coach, multiple sources have told ESPNFC.com.

Dallas technical director Fernando Clavijo said last week the club’s coaching search had come down to three finalists, one of which is current assistant Marco Ferruzzi. Clavijo said he expected to make a decision in the next week. Sources this week said Pareja is willing to listen to Dallas offers, despite dismissing them earlier, and sources say Colorado seems resigned to the possibility of losing Pareja. A spokesperson for FC Dallas declined to comment. The Rapids said through a team spokesperson via email that, "We won't comment on another team's coaching search, and any conversations with other teams regarding our players or staff will always remain private. As for Oscar Pareja, he is under contract at the Rapids through 2015."

A little over a month ago The Denver Post reported that the Rapids had rejected a previous overture from FCD by denying the club permission to speak with Pareja.

Pareja had just finished his second season in Colorado, leading the Rapids to a playoff spot despite numerous injuries. At the time, one source indicated that Pareja wanted to "finish what he’s started" in Colorado.

Pareja’s ties to Dallas run deep. He spent eight years with the club as a player, and another five as an assistant before taking the Colorado job just prior to the 2012 campaign. As head coach, he has recorded a regular season record of 25-30-13, but finished 14-11-9 this season, and helped develop several young players, including Deshorn Brown and Dillon Powers.
