CARSON, Calif. -- Martin Rivero scored in the 80th minute to lift the Colorado Rapids into a 1-1 tie with Chivas USA on Sunday night in a match marred by three ejections.

Chivas USA finished with nine players and Colorado was down to 10 men.

Colorado (9-7-9) remained in second place in the Western Conference, even with Vancouver on 36 points, while Chivas is in last place on 18 points.

Rookie midfielder Carlos Alvarez gave Chivas (4-13-6) a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute.

Chivas' Gabriel Farfan was ejected in the 33rd minute for a serious foul play as he stepped on a sliding Shane O'Neill. Early in the second half, Colorado's Tony Cascio was sent off after picking up his second yellow card. Tristan Bowen was sent off in the 63rd minute for spitting at Colorado's Chris Klute.
