Sacramento Republic names jersey sponsor for potential MLS spot

Brian McBride gives a glowing recommendation for Sacramento to join MLS, but questions why the expansion has been delayed.

Sacramento Republic FC has formalized a partnership establishing UC Davis Health as the team's jersey sponsor should the club be selected to be an MLS expansion franchise.

The five-year deal would run from Republic FC's first year in MLS -- which it hopes will be 2020 -- through the 2024 season.

Returning to Toronto FC lifted Jozy Altidore out of his 'darkest three days'

Major League Soccer: Jozy Altidore (16') Toronto FC 1-0 Montreal Impact

Altidore was in the U.S. team last week that lost to Trinidad and Tobago, a result that ensure the Americans will not be playing in Russia next summer.

But he returned to his club on Sunday -- scored the winning goal over the rival Montreal Impact as the Reds matched the MLS record for points in a season with 68 -- and said simply...

Kaka speaks on the field after his final home match for Orlando City after three seasons with the club.

Kaka bid a tearful farewell to Orlando City on Sunday, saying he "will always be a Lion forever" after his final game following three years with the MLS club.

The Brazilian star confirmed last week that he would not renew his Orlando contract at the end of the year, and the emotion of the moment caught up him as he played his final home game, a 1-0 defeat to Columbus.

"It was hard to play sometimes. When I was on the field, a lot of things were on my mind and it was difficult to focus on the...

Sounders, Timbers, Sporting KC, Dynamo clinch MLS playoff berths

Seattle secured their ninth consecutive trip to the MLS postseason, while Dallas no longer control their playoff destiny.

Will Bruin scored twice in four minutes midway through the second half and the Seattle Sounders clinched a playoff berth and a chance to defend their MLS Cup by beating FC Dallas 4-0 on Sunday.

The Sounders are tied for second place in the Western Conference with Portland at 50 points apiece with one game left, two points behind West-leading Vancouver.

Dallas still has not clinched a playoff spot and is tied with the San Jose Earthquakes for the final position at 43 points after Sunday's games.
