Alexandre Lacazette will return to form - Lyon teammate Corentin Tolisso

Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette has overcome a niggling injury and is ready to reproduce his outstanding form of last season, according to teammate Corentin Tolisso.

Lacazette, 24, was voted France's player of the year last season after scoring 27 goals in Ligue 1 as Lyon finished runners-up behind Paris Saint-Germain.

However, he has not yet found the target at the start of this season and was booed off during a 2-1 home defeat to Rennes last month before sitting out the 4-0 win at Caen just before the international break due to a back problem.

"He had a little problem with his back at the start of this season, which prevented him from doing what he did last year," midfielder Tolisso, 21, told media on Thursday ahead of this weekend's Ligue 1 clash with Lille.

"The problem is gone now and I think we are now going to see the Lacazette of last season. That is going to be great for the team. He is very important in our way of playing and is capable of making the difference all by himself."

Lyon could do with getting Lacazette back to his best quickly as they begin their Champions League campaign away to Gent in Belgium next week and are without France's young player of the year Nabil Fekir for the next six months after he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee on international duty last weekend.

When asked how Fekir was coping with being cut down in his prime, Tolisso said: "He is taking it very badly. Nabil is a very important player in our squad. He showed that throughout last season and at the start of this season.

"Mentally, he is not doing very well at the moment. But that is to be expected after doing your cruciate. We will support him, and so will his family, so that the next six months go as well as possible."
