Lyon forward Nabil Fekir plans to stay put and help the club with a testing season -- and the reported Paris Saint-Germain target expects his next move to be outside of France.

Fekir, 22, came to prominence alongside Ligue 1 top-scorer Alexandre Lacazette in a young strikeforce which fired OL to a serious title challenge last season and a place in the Champions League for the coming campaign.

Speculation inevitably linked both players with the eventual champions -- and while Fekir acknowledged that "in the future, you never know," it is not in his thoughts for now.

"This season I have to back up what I have done. I have to do everything I can to continue progressing," he told France Football.

"There is also the Champions League. I want to give back to OL what the club has given me.''

He added: "To be frank, I would prefer an experience overseas after OL.''

Lyon's preparation for the new campaign has been indifferent to say the least, with their only preseason win coming against AC Milan amid defeats to Sion and PSV Eindhoven in the Valais Cup, Arsenal -- by a 6-0 scoreline -- and Villarreal in the Emirates Cup and PSG in the curtain-raising Trophee des Champions.

Fekir said: "It will be a more difficult season with a lot more matches. We have to prepare ourselves well -- but the squad is ready to meet these challenges.

"It is exciting that most of us are discovering this -- playing in the Champions League, at the top of Ligue 1 and in a fabulous new stadium. It is not so long ago that we dreamed of all that.''

Midfielder Corentin Tolisso recently admitted Lyon need several signings for the hectic campaign to come and one of the first to arrive, former Manchester United full-back Rafael, has been hailed as "an important reinforcement'' by coach Hubert Fournier.

Fournier told the club's official website: "We were following Rafael for a long time. He's a very talented player and was much loved by the Manchester United fans.

"He's an important reinforcement, especially given the busy schedule we will have from September onwards.''

Rafael is naturally a right-back but Fournier continued: "He can play on the left of defence and even sometimes higher up the pitch. His profile corresponds with OL's attacking philosophy.''
