European champions Lyon have completed the signing of England forward Nikita Parris on a free transfer from Manchester City.

Parris, 25, is the leading goalscorer in Women's Super League history with 47 goals and announced earlier this month that she would be leaving City following four years at the club.

The forward was named the Football Writers' Player of the Year in her final season in Manchester, in which City completed an FA Cup and Continental Cup double. Parris also scored 19 goals in 19 league appearances this season as City finished second to Arsenal in the WSL.

"When Olympique Lyon come in for you, it's not a team you turn down," Parris told Sky Sports

Lyon won their fourth consecutive Champions League title when they defeated Barcelona 4-1 last weekend. The French side also won the league and domestic cup to complete the Treble and have not lost a competitive match since May 2018.

Parris joins a forward line which includes Ballon D'Or winner Ada Hegerberg, who scored a 16-minute hat trick in the Champions League final, France's Eugenie Le Sommer and the Netherlands' Shanice van de Sanden.

She will also link up with England teammate Lucy Bronze, who moved to Lyon from Manchester City in 2017.

Parris has also netted 11 goals in 32 appearances for England and has been named in Phil Neville's squad for this summer's World Cup.
