LIVERPOOL, England -- Jurgen Klopp said "nobody gets rid of" Liverpool in the title race if they repeat the performance that brought Sunday's 4-2 victory over Burnley at Anfield.
Klopp's side cut the gap to Manchester City at the top of the table to a point as Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane both scored twice.
They recovered from going 1-0 down with six minutes played to keep up the pressure after City had beaten Watford 3-1 on Saturday.
"We have to make sure that we stay in the really interesting competition on top of the table," Klopp told his postmatch news conference.
"The message from today is that nobody gets rid of us if we play as we played today. We had the perfect mixture of fighting the opponent, fighting the circumstances and playing football. That was really good."
Mohamed Salah did not appear on the scoresheet for a fifth straight match -- the longest goalless run of his Liverpool career -- but the Egypt international was crucial to Firmino's goals and was praised by his manager.
"Today Mo Salah, for me, was the best player on the pitch and he didn't score," Klopp said.
"I am not sure you will see that in a lot of ratings because he's a striker and he didn't score, but we have no problem with confidence. We are in a good moment."
Ashley Westwood had given Burnley the lead, scoring direct from a corner amid protests from a number of Liverpool players that goalkeeper Alisson had been impeded.
"The early goal we conceded, usually it would have been disallowed if the ref had a better view, I don't know exactly," Klopp said.
"I saw [in] the first moment it is a foul, and then I saw the pictures. You cannot treat the goalie like this.
"The good thing is it was early, so we had enough time to react, to turn it around. That's what we did. We created, we had 23 shots or something versus three.
"Four-two is a brilliant result. We knew it is really difficult against Burnley, and it was again. But we always felt we could win. That's how it should be."
