Liverpool targeting Champions League final, hope to avoid Real Madrid - Dejan Lovren

Dejan Lovren has told beIN SPORTS Liverpool are targeting a place in the Champions League final but hope to avoid Real Madrid in Friday's semifinal draw.

Liverpool won 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday to complete a 5-1 aggregate victory over Manchester City and reach the last four for the first time in 10 years.

And Lovren said Jurgen Klopp's side now had their eyes on May's final in Kiev.

"The aim is now to get to the final, but there are still two matches to go," he said.

"We'll see who we play on Friday. I hope it's perhaps Roma or Bayern because Real Madrid have a lot of experience, they have won twice in two years, that's something exceptional -- but we'll see on Friday.

"We're so proud -- after two difficult games against Man City, we deserve to be in the semifinal.

"We didn't show what we had wanted to in the first half, they scored very early, but that woke us up.

"We were good in the second half, compact, good defensively, we scored two goals.

"After this 5-1 win against Manchester City, people need to respect Liverpool a bit more now."
