Liverpool's Joe Gomez out injured a month, will miss UCL games - sources

Liverpool defender Joe Gomez is set to miss next month's Champions League quarterfinals against Manchester City through injury, sources told ESPN FC.

Gomez was forced off after just 10 minutes of England's 1-0 win over Netherlands on Friday and is facing up to a month on the sidelines.

That means Gomez will miss the two Champions League clashes against City as well as Premier League games against Crystal Palace, Everton and Bournemouth as Liverpool look to secure a top-four finish.

Scans taken by the England medical staff showed no serious damage to Gomez's ankle but he has returned to Liverpool for further assessment.

Gomez, who won his third cap for England in the friendly, has made 29 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool this season. His absence may force Jurgen Klopp to bring Nathaniel Clyne back to action sooner than expected following a back injury.
