Roberto Firmino among absent Liverpool players for Dubai training trip

Roberto Firmino is one of a number of Liverpool players absent from the club's trip to Dubai for warm weather training.

After a busy schedule over the Christmas and New Year period, Liverpool are using their extended gap between Friday's win over Everton and the upcoming Manchester City game this weekend as an opportunity to train in the Middle East's warm climate.

Firmino is not in the United Arab Emirates, in addition to other Liverpool teammates, who are absent for private reasons, a source has told ESPN FC.

The Brazilian was pictured in his wife's social media post in Cyprus visiting Liverpool's Allan Rodrigues, who is spending the 2017-18 season on loan at Apollon Limassol.

Meanwhile, the English Football Association confirmed on the weekend that they would "begin making enquiries" into the incident involving Firmino and Everton's Mason Holgate during the first half of Friday night's Merseyside derby.

The FA say referee Bobby Madley "was made aware of an allegation" during the match, while Liverpool have said they and Firmino would "fully cooperate with the relevant authorities."
