Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho, Mohamed Salah miss Burnley trip

BURNLEY -- Philippe Coutinho and Mohamed Salah have both been left out of Liverpool's squad for the game with Burnley on New Year's Day.

Coutinho and Salah were not on the Liverpool team bus that arrived at Turf Moor and they have been ruled out of the Premier League encounter with injury knocks.

Salah was a doubt for the match already, having picked up a minor groin injury in Saturday's win over Leicester City, while Coutinho will miss the Burnley game with a thigh issue.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said he would make "more than one" change to Liverpool's starting XI for the trip to Burnley following the short turnaround from the Leicester City match, having not made sweeping alterations in a similar situation last season.

The omission of Coutinho also comes after Barcelona kit manufacturer Nike had briefly published an online advertisement for Barca shirts with the Brazil forward's name on.

In total, Klopp has made seven changes to his lineup, with Simon Mignolet returning in goal and Dominic Solanke leading Liverpool's frontline.

Full Liverpool XI: Mignolet, Alexander-Arnold, Klavan, Lovren, Gomez, Can, Wijnaldum, Lallana, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mane, Solanke.
