New boulevard to link Anfield and park as regeneration of area continues

The final stage in the regeneration of the area around Liverpool's Anfield home will see the construction of a new boulevard leading to the stadium.

Liverpool council officials, who have been implementing the £260 million scheme to reinvigorate the neighbourhood, also want to see a "high street" created on Walton Breck Road, near the ground.

The plans, which received the backing of the council's cabinet last week, will see 85 new homes built.

The boulevard will link Stanley Park and 96 Avenue, which is named in memory of the Hillsborough disaster victims and fronts the Main Stand, with Robson Street.

Deputy mayor Ann O'Byrne told the Liverpool Echo: "The final piece is that high street and it's going to look stunning, it really is. The residents are fully on board with the work we're doing there."
