Adam Lallana has 'telepathic' understanding with Liverpool attackers

Adam Lallana has said he has a "telepathic" relationship with Liverpool's in-form trio of attackers.

Jurgen Klopp's frontline of Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mane has played a major role in the Liverpool reaching the top of the Premier League, with the three players contributing 16 goals in opening 11 games of the campaign.

Lallana, who is excelling from a deeper midfield role this season, has also chipped in with three goals and five assists.

Despite Lallana and his teammates in the final third not speaking the same language, the 28-year-old explains how a clear understanding of each other's style of play has aided the Reds' blistering start to the 2016-17 season.

"It's cliched, but football has its own language," Lallana said. "For example, Firmino doesn't speak brilliant English -- although better English than I speak Portuguese! -- but I feel like I've got that relationship with him on the pitch where you don't need to be speaking to each other.

"It's almost telepathic. At times, when you see Firmino, Coutinho and Sadio Mane linking up, they are everywhere. That's not because they speak the same language or they speak English.

"Phil is very shy, his English is great. He just doesn't speak it too often. It's almost telepathic -- just knowing each other's games inside out."
