Liverpool 'playing better than anyone' in England - Ian Rush

On form, Liverpool are now the best team in England, according to club legend Ian Rush, who declared that Jurgen Klopp's side are genuine Premier League contenders.

On a visit to Singapore on Thursday, Rush said that Klopp had transformed an under-achieving side during his first full season in charge. Ahead of Sunday's home game against Watford, Liverpool are joint top of the table, behind only Manchester City and Arsenal on goal difference.

"I think at the moment we are playing better than anyone," he told Today. "We always look like we are going to score, and that's exciting.

"I think come around Christmas, if they are still in the same position then, yeah, probably [we can talk about winning the league]."

Rush is a club ambassador, who is Liverpool's all-time top scorer with 346 goals.

The 55-year-old praised Klopp for successfully introducing a high-pressing game that has helped Liverpool score a joint-high 24 league goals, winning seven of their 10 games so far.

"I've been very impressed ... he's been fantastic, he's got the players playing well," Rush said.

"I think all we are looking at is to try and keep it tight at the back, now that we are scoring goals ... he knows what the problem is, and he's addressing that at the moment."

The lack of European football this season, Rush added, made things easier for Liverpool to focus on their domestic targets.

"People do get injured and it gives them an extra few days to get fit for the league games; we have to use it to our advantage," he said.

Rush, and fellow ex-Liverpool stars Gary McAllister and Luis Garcia, are in Singapore until Sunday to meet fans at LFC World, at Singapore's Suntec International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Liverpool have won their last three Premier League matches, scoring eight goals in the process, with a 4-2 victory at Crystal Palace on Oct. 30 their most recent success.
