LIVERPOOL-- Jurgen Klopp has admitted he is a fan of former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson but said his comments about Liverpool's recent form will have no impact on his team.
Ferguson recently praised Klopp's impact at Liverpool and tipped them compete for the Premier League title this season after making a strong start to the campaign that sees them currently lie in third place, level on points with leaders Manchester City.
"I'm not sure that it is allowed to say I like Alex Ferguson as Liverpool manager!" Klopp joked at a news conference on Friday afternoon. "I knew him before. He's a really nice person and he did what he had to do at Manchester -- and that automatically means it's not good for Liverpool.
"When he has to say something positive about Liverpool then it's better than [if] he would say something negative. That's all good but it doesn't mean a lot."
The Reds boss added: "I'm pretty sure Alex Ferguson didn't go out in front of his house and say: 'I have something to say about Liverpool.' So some people will ask a few questions and he gave a few answers -- that's how it was.
"It's OK, but it doesn't disturb us, help us or anything else. I have nothing more to say."
Liverpool will be hoping to extend their unbeaten run to 11 games in all competitions when they take on Crystal Palace in the Premier League at Selhurst Park on Saturday evening.
