Dejan Lovren: Liverpool have the quality to beat any team

Dejan Lovren insists Liverpool are "in the race" to achieve success this season and believes the squad is filled with enough quality to beat any team.

Liverpool go into Saturday evening's meeting with West Brom at Anfield just two points adrift of leaders Manchester City after making a bright start to the 2016-17 season.

The Croatian centre-back, who has made six appearances in the Premier League so far this campaign, says confidence within the team is high.

"It's good when you are in the race," Lovren told the club's official website. "You have a better chance to finish well than if you are sixth or seventh. You know everything is possible.

"Every game is a 'win' game for us. We have the quality to beat everyone. It's just about a winning mentality. If we can keep that at the end of the season we can be proud."

Jurgen Klopp said at a news conference earlier this week that his Liverpool side would better equipped to deal with the threat of Tony Pulis' side after drawing their two encounters last season.

Lovren is also well aware of what to expect on Saturday and insists Liverpool must learn their lesson from those matches in 2015-16.

"Whenever I have played against West Brom it was a really difficult game, physically and mentally," Lovren added. "It will again be a tough game, but I think we need to learn from our mistakes from last year when we played them here. We know what we can expect but now it is a different situation.

"We improved a lot with Jurgen [Klopp]. We were really good last season when he came, but now we are flying. We just need to keep that winning spirit."
