Jordan Henderson: Liverpool 'frustrated' by draw with Man United

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson said he and his teammates were frustrated not to come away with three wins after Monday's goalless draw with Manchester United.

David De Gea made two fine saves in the second half as the matchup between the two old rivals ended goalless for the first time since 2005.

But Henderson said that he believed Liverpool could have played better under the lights at Anfield.

"We are frustrated. We didn't play to the level we are capable of," he told Sky Sports. "We didn't create many clear cut chances and we could have been a little more decisive.

"We didn't start the game great but we grew into it. I felt we dominated the second half but didn't create that clear-cut chance.

"I am not sure if it was nerves but maybe we tried to force it. At the end of the day we kept a clean sheet, they came and did a job."

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp agreed with his captain that Liverpool have had better performances, though he was happy to secure a first clean sheet in the Premier League this season.

"Mixed emotions," Klopp said. "I'm not happy with the game. I think we didn't play as good as we could have played, so that's the first thing, that's our fault. Nobody else.

"We started, from what I saw from the body language and what we wanted to do, OK, and immediately with their man-on-man defending we weren't brave anymore. We didn't wait for the right pass.

"They didn't create chances, they had two maybe in the second half -- one that we gave them was offside and the other was the header from [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic.

"We had two or three [shots], great saves from De Gea, but at the end our performance was not how it should be. It is a first clean sheet, so yippee, but that's actually all what I'm happy about.

"We weren't calm enough, that is their style, that is OK. You need to have respect but be cool. That is not the way we want to play, but I accept it.

"We got a point, there are worse things in the world."
