Liverpool's Ragnar Klavan: Coutinho, Firmino and Mane make me better

Ragnar Klavan believes defending against his clinical attacking teammates at Liverpool has helped improve his game.

Liverpool have netted 18 goals in the Premier League so far this season -- the same total as leaders Manchester City -- and scored a further eight in the EFL Cup.

Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have all scored three times in the league already this term, while James Milner has netted four times from the penalty spot.

Klavan, who joined the club in the summer from Bundesliga side Augsburg, contributed one goal to the overall tally when he found the back of the net against Derby County in the third round of the EFL Cup.

The Estonia centre-back told the club's official website when asked whether he would dislike coming up against Jurgen Klopp's in-form forwards: "Of course. We have so much quality in front, but for me it is good to train against them every day -- it helps my defending level."

The 30-year-old feels he is getting used to the physical nature of English football with each game and training session passing.

"It's kind of more aggressive, a little bit more is allowed by the referees," Klavan added. "It's a little bit different from the Bundesliga. Those are just parts where you need to get used to it a little bit, so it took me some time and also in training, but slowly I am getting there.

"With every league, there is something special about that league. England is, in my opinion, one of the best -- maybe the best -- leagues in the world."

Liverpool currently lie just two points adrift of Pep Guardiola's Manchester City side in the Premier League table during the second international break.

But Klavan insists there is plenty of work still to be done and is unwilling at this early stage in the season to place a prediction on where the Reds will finish.

"We have had a good start to the season, no doubt about it, but it's going to be a long season," he continued.

"To pick out a [finishing] spot or place is hard to say. For us, I hope we take it one game at a time because every game is going to be important if you want to achieve something amazing."
