Adam Lallana to miss England games through injury, Dejan Lovren doubt

Adam Lallana will be forced to miss England's next two World Cup qualifiers after picking up an injury in Liverpool's 2-1 win over Swansea City, according to Jurgen Klopp.

Lallana, 28, had to be replaced by Daniel Sturridge in the first half at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday afternoon when he injured his groin.

The midfielder, who scored England's winner in their opening Group F fixture against Slovakia last month, is set to sit out the upcoming games with Malta and Slovenia on Oct. 8 and Oct. 11 respectively.

Interim England manager Gareth Southgate, who is deputising after Sam Allardyce's departure from the role earlier this week, names his squad for the two qualifiers on Sunday.

"He has no chance for the national team," Klopp told the BBC. "But hopefully 15 or 16 days should be enough to bring him back on the pitch."

Meanwhile, in a separate interview with Sky Sports, the Reds boss also revealed that Croatian Dejan Lovren, too, picked up an injury in the win over the Swans.

Klopp believes the centre-back, 27, will not be fit enough for international duty and would miss encounters with Kosovo and Finland.

"Adam has a groin problem and Dejan Lovren too," Klopp said. "I'm pretty sure they both cannot go to the national team.

"We will see what they have exactly and hopefully they can use the time to recover and are back in the race for the next game."

Liverpool play next on Oct. 17 when they welcome arch-rivals Manchester United to Anfield in the Premier League.
