LIVERPOOL -- Marko Grujic believes his first taste of competitive action with Liverpool taught him everything he needs to know about life in the Premier League.
The Serbia international, 20, made his Reds debut in last month's 2-0 loss away at Burnley after moving to the club in the summer from Red Star Belgrade.
The powerful midfielder signed for Liverpool in January for £5.1 million but was immediately sent back to Serbia for the rest of the 2015-16 season to help win the title for his boyhood club.
Grujic was a late second-half substitute against Burnley on Aug. 20 but his short cameo at Turf Moor could not help rescue Jurgen Klopp's side from a disappointing defeat.
"These matches show why the Premier League is the most interesting in the world," Grujic said at the club's training ground, Melwood. "Every game is difficult, every game you don't know for sure what the result is going to be.
"We played a good game at the Emirates [a 4-3 win the previous week] and then against Burnley, who are a smaller team than Arsenal, we lost 2-0.
"When coach called me to come on in this game, I was a little bit surprised. But after one or two minutes, I just relaxed and then tried to help the team at least draw, but we couldn't do this."
Liverpool have had to play their first three games of the Premier League campaign on the road due to the redevelopment of the Main Stand. Saturday sees them make a long-awaited return to Anfield as they take on champions Leicester City.
The Foxes' fairytale campaign last season is further evidence to Grujic of the unpredictability within his new domestic league.
"No football supporter in the world could've thought at the start of last season that Leicester would be champions," he added. "Football is unpredictable and it's a game where everything is possible.
"Leicester were champions last season, but that doesn't mean nothing for this season -- it doesn't mean there will be a repeat or anything.
"We play them in our stadium, in front of our fans and we'll be opening our new stand, so it's going to be a very good match, and I think we'll be celebrating with our supporters afterwards."
Grujic has been limited to one appearance so far this term despite impressing throughout the preseason with three goals in a number of eye-catching performances.
But at a young age and with little experience in his new environment, he is realistic in his expectations of his first season on Merseyside.
"I just want to be in the squad and when I get my chances, I want to make the most of them," Grujic said. "I know the first year will be hard for me, because I've come from a relatively small league where it was easier.
"Playing in the Premier League is a big difference compared to playing in Serbia so I know this time is about adapting. I don't think about what is the target of games I should play this year, I just want to train hard and improve myself."
