Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge: Philippe Coutinho goal should be mine

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has said Philippe Coutinho's goal against Everton should have been awarded to him.

Sturridge was on target in Liverpool's 4-0 win over Merseyside rivals Everton on Wednesday at Anfield to take his tally to the club to 50 goals.

Coutinho rounded off the scoring with an effort from outside the box, which Sturridge says caught him on the ball's path to the back of the net.

"He would claim it is his but it touched me so it is my goal," the England international said in the The Guardian.

"If I shot and it hit someone I wouldn't like to lose the goal but it hit me so I have to claim it. If it touches you, you claim it wherever it touches you -- eyelash, wherever.

"It did actually touch me. I'm not the type of guy who would claim a goal if it didn't touch me. I know there are some guys out there hungry for goals but I'm not that hungry.

"There have been some dubious decisions but that is not dubious, it is clear for everyone to see."
