Liverpool hire Bayern Munich fitness coach Andreas Kornmayer - reports

Bayern Munich fitness coach Andreas Kornmayer is set to join Liverpool in the summer, according to reports in Germany and England.

Kornmayer, 41, will replace Ryland Morgans, who left the club last month, as part of the backroom staff, the Daily Mirror and Bild said. Munich-born Kornmayer has worked for Bayern's first team since 2010, when then-coach Louis van Gaal promoted him from the reserves.

He has worked under the Dutch boss as well as Jupp Heynckes and current coach Pep Guardiola, but now is set for the switch to Anfield where he will work under the Reds' German manager, Jurgen Klopp.

At Bayern, Kornmayer is one of three fitness coaches in the medical department alongside Lorenzo Buenaventura -- who was brought in by Pep Guardiola -- and Thomas Wilhemi, who work under Dr. Holger Broich.

Last summer, Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller praised Kornmayer, telling Sport1 that "he transformed me from slow snail into a speedy snail."
