Jurgen Klopp praises Liverpool's Joe Allen, hints at Dortmund start

Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for Welsh midfielder Joe Allen who put on a man-of-the-match performance to help Liverpool to a 4-1 win over Stoke City on Sunday.

The Reds dominated the game at Anfield, with goals from Alberto Moreno, Divock Origi (2) and Daniel Sturridge giving Liverpool their 13thleague win of the season.

Allen, who has had to settle for a place on the bench for most of the season will be vital to Liverpool's hopes for the remainder of the season, with captain Jordan Henderson sustaining a season-ending injury last week.

The English midfielder injured himself in the 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund in their Europa League quarterfinal first leg clash.

Klopp will be hoping for Allen to continue his good form when the German giants visit Anfield on Thursday for the return leg, and provided a strong hint that the 26-year-old will be in his starting lineup.

"He was brilliant. There is no other word for this. We only took him off because we need him," Klopp told the Liverpool Echo.

"Joe is not 100 percent fit, but it is not possible because he couldn't train often enough. He was always on the bench because we have needed him.

"He's a really good player. Now, hopefully he stays healthy forever and now he's a really good option."

Dortmund prepared for their vital game against Liverpool on Thursday with a 2-2 draw away to Schalke in the German Bundesliga at the weekend, and Allen's midfield prowess will be key to stopping Ilkay Guendogan and Henrik Mkhitaryan.
