Barcelona's Luis Suarez: Liverpool return was to visit 'good friends'

Former Liverpool star Luis Suarez has said he misses his friends at the club after paying a visit on Tuesday during a break in his playing commitments.

Barcelona forward Suarez caught up with former colleagues at the Melwood training ground and watched manager Jurgen Klopp preparing his players for Thursday's Europa League home clash with Manchester United.

The Uruguay international left Liverpool after the 2013-14 season, during which his goals brought them close to a first league title since 1990.

He told Liverpool's official website: "It was fantastic to see the lads.

"The people that work here are really nice and I miss them, so I wanted to come and see some friends. I have really good friends here.

"I had a really good moment here in three-and-a-half years and, when you have a really good moment in your life, it is something you remember.

"I always try to watch the [Liverpool] games and look out for the results. I am very interested in how Liverpool are doing because they are so important in my life."
