Fenway Sports Group 'really care' about Liverpool - Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp has welcomed the decision by Liverpool's owners to back down over ticket price rises after the walkout by supporters in last Saturday's game against Sunderland -- and the manager insisted they "really care."

Fenway Sports Group (FSG) announced on Wednesday it had reconsidered its intention to introduce rises including a £77 ($112) match ticket -- up from £59 (£86) -- and £1,029 ($1497) season ticket -- up from £869 ($1264) -- with prices instead frozen for the next two seasons.

In their statement, principal owner John W Henry, chairman Tom Werner and president Mike Gordon said they were "troubled by the perception that we don't care about our supporters, that we are greedy," but added in response to the walkout: "Message received."

And Klopp told a news conference on Friday the solution proved FSG's genuine commitment to the club.

"That's how I've known the owners since I've been here," he said of their sentiments. "In the world of football it's not too easy to be an owner of a club -- you have to prove you are really interested in the club.

"I know it -- I've been here for four-and-a-half months and I know them as people -- they really care. They really care about the club and the interests of the supporters and things like this.

"The reaction [from our supporters] was clear, it was a clear sign. Hopefully it was understood [the solution] is proof of [the owners'] real interest in this club and all the things around it. I'm really fine with it -- it's a good thing."
