Philippe Coutinho injury boost for Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp - sources

New Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been given a fitness boost ahead of his first game in charge of the club this weekend, according to ESPN FC sources.

Last week, Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho was forced to withdraw from Brazil's World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Venezuela through injury.

However, Coutinho took part in Klopp's first training session on Monday following his appointment as the club's new boss last Thursday.

The midfielder could now be in contention for Liverpool's Premier League meeting with Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Saturday lunchtime.

Meanwhile, Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe is relishing the chance to work under former Borussia Dortmund coach Klopp.

Ibe, 19, said in the Daily Mirror: "I can't wait to get back and start working with him now.

"I can only try and get better with the help he's hopefully going to provide for me, and there's a lot of other young players, so working around him should be great and also for the senior players in the squad."

Reflecting on the sacking of manager Brendan Rodgers, Ibe said: "It's a shame [about Rodgers], because he was an important man in my career.

"But that's how football is. There's no promises in football and I wish him all the best for the future.

"I now need to focus and work under the new manager, he's got good experience and did some great stuff with Borussia Dortmund."
