Sean O'Driscoll, Gary McAllister leave Liverpool coaching jobs - sources

Assistant manager Sean O'Driscoll and first-team coach Gary McAllister have lost their jobs at Liverpool in a reshuffle to prepare for Jurgen Klopp's arrival, sources have told ESPN FC.

Klopp's appointment as manager will also result in head of performance Glen Driscoll and head of opposition analysis Chris Davies leaving the club, sources said.

Sky Sports News reported on Thursday that Klopp had reached total agreement with Liverpool, with a formal announcement expected later in the day.

O'Driscoll and McAllister only joined Liverpool in July as part of a backroom reorganisation that followed an end-of-season review led by Fenway Sports Group, the club's American owners.

Klopp, however, wishes to bring in Zeljko Buvac as his assistant and Peter Krawietz as his analyst, according to sources. Both men were worked with him when he was in charge of Borussia Dortmund, and before that, at Mainz.

ESPN FC has been told that Klopp is not planning a major overhaul of the Liverpool playing staff and will give the existing squad time to prove themselves.

The former Dortmund boss was set to arrive on Merseyside to complete negotiations over a three-year contract.

O'Driscoll, who left a position as coach of the England under-19 team to become Rodgers' assistant, was on a one-year rolling contract at Liverpool, as was McAllister.

Former Scotland captain McAllister has been offered an alternative role away from first-team duties, which he is currently considering.

Pepijn Lijnders, who was promoted from the academy setup to work with the first team in July, will retain his position.
