Emre Can does not regret signing for Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen

Germany international Emre Can says he has no regrets about leaving Bayer Leverkusen for Liverpool.

Can, 21, joined a host of new faces at Anfield last summer when Liverpool paid €12 million to end his one-year stay in Leverkusen.

The former Bayern Munich player was not immediately convincing as he featured in several different positions during a turbulent first season on Merseyside.

This season he has been playing on the right side of a three-man Liverpool defence and he also made his international debut at right-back in Germany's games against Poland and Scotland last month.

Can recently spoke of his sympathy for former Reds manager Brendan Rodgers and the players' need to take responsibility for results at Liverpool.

Despite his new club not being as successful as he might have hoped, however, the player told Sport1 that he does not regret having left Germany.

"I had a super time in Leverkusen and it was definitely the right decision to go from Bayern to there because in Munich I hardly played," Can said.

"But with all due respect to Leverkusen, Liverpool are another step higher. Liverpool are a bigger club and you can feel the history of the club.

"If you're on the pitch and you hear the fans singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone' you get goosebumps."
